SWR certification tips?

So I'm am going to try and talk an employer in to paying for a swift water rescue class and I was wondering... If it works out and I get in a course is there anything I need to know before I go? I am a paddler/climber so I know a good deal of knots and hitches. Any tips on other need to know stuff?

You can get the book from the ACA to study up. I've heard a lot of the emphasis is on knots and z-drags though.
