OT - Loss of Old Friend

Post by Trismegistus » Wed Mar 04, 2009 4:54 pm

Sad to report that the old red oak in St. Joe is no more. This landmark tree along Highway 65 has served the community for many generations but was severely damaged by the recent ice storm and had to be brought down before it fell on highway. Hate to see this old friend finally succumb to the rigors of life....

Awful tempting here, John, to inquire if you are sure you may not be a relative.... seeing how you are such a nut.... but I will restrain. :poke:
You sure this is on the right channel?

When I was in Bolixi, the palm trees that were killed by storms had all the limbs and splinter parts removed. They had carved animals and fish out of the trunks. The tree at ST. Joe could have had that done to it. If there was enough left to it.
One of these days we will be able to run the Cadron without seeing a tire.

As we drove thru part of St Joe last weekend, Richard wondered aloud to me where this tree was. Can you refresh our old memories? Before or after the old abandoned stores? I kinda think it was on up by the newer store/gas station... but not sure.

Could it have been the cedar near the new post office.
We are all afflicted with Cognitive Dissonance. The greater our religious, social, financial or political affiliation, the greater the affliction. We hear what we want to hear. We believe what we want to believe. Truth becomes irrelevant.
