DeBo and I are going somewhere tomorrow.

Most likely: Wattensaw; either Hwy 11 to the first boat ramp, or possibly Hurricane Creek to the boat ramp.

Levels are good right now; temps should peak near 50.

Meet at I-40 Exit 193 (Hazen Exit) at 11 AM Sunday 2/22/09.

We're headed to the board meeting, so may not see replies until late tonight.

We may be wavering too - didn't get back from Board meeting until 2 AM, may divert and go for the short day on Cadron instead...

Anyone who was "lurking" and really wants to go to Wattensaw could still change that by calling five - o -1- 472-nine038 soon...

We haven't loaded boats yet, so which ones we load could still change...

I think I will take the dogs to the sandbar at Cadron Settlement.
There are some geocaches as well. If the river is flowing over the jetty it creates a long surfing wave.

We ended up in Wattensaw after all - just got back at 8:30. DeBo and Kirsten dropped me off for a solo paddle of Hurricane Creek (call my starting point "A"); they went on down to the upper boat ramp (point "B") and paddled to the middle ramp (Point "C") When I got to the first boat ramp ("B"), I took one of the two cars they left there and drove down to the middle ramp ("C") to pick them up. (Harder to explain than it is to do.) I love "leap frog" shuttles - it is like everybody on the trip has a shuttle driver, nobody has to sit out the day or wait very long. Saw about five deer, numerous pileateds and other woodpeckers, an owl, hawks, and of course turtles. Got within about 30 feet of one of the woodpeckers, although only briefly.
Levels are pretty high right now - it is all backed up from the White, no flowing current anywhere this time. Also had a bit of fun chasing an armadillo through one of the farm fields during our shuttle. Those things aren't super fast, but he kept up the pace a lot longer than I thought he would be able to. We both got our exercise...
