Sure would be a nice day to paddle Cadron Creek bout 1:00 or 1:30 under the bridge. Is access at CCO possible? Not interested in trespassing or putting on elsewhere.

Oh. Did a search and determined that CCO is Cadron Creek Outfitters and is at hwy 310. I would be interested in that stretch if it extended to hwy 285.

Without firm access at CCO I'm not interested in loading up and driving up there. Need to get this figured out. I'm finally with Crane. I think we need to look into leasing access. Not interested in legal fight cause we got too much to lose and not enough to gain.

If you don't stand up for your rights, you'll lose them anyway...

Amen.

Seems to me there isn't all that much to lose but a lot to gain.

Hey, Larry, I'm not qualified to litigate this but you could do pro bono, right? Don't you legal eagles have to do a certain amount of that? Even if the club was inclined to, I doubt that it could afford legal fees. :poke:

Talked to the land owner and he is receptive to discussing various options that may allow open access at Pinnacle Springs bridge. Best if we can work through this without litigation -- moreover I am sure Larry's position in the Attorney General's Office may give rise to "conflicts of interest" that would curtail his involvement. Thus....

Great, I'm glad you found the time to get something rolling on this!

FWIW, if you talk to the Landowner again - I for one would be willing to guarantee an impromptu trash pick-up each and every time I use the access, and would do my best to encourage other paddlers, both club and non-clubbers alike, to do the same.

Wouldn't it be cool if the landowner could watch the pattern: No rain, trash collects.... Rain, cars with boat racks at bridge, much of trash magically disappears...

I also don't mind "hoofing it" down the hill if he wants to leave the gate closed to prevent this from developing into a general party-down area...

Several of us have been quietly working on the access issue for a good while. We've met with G&F and have visited about what they are willing to do or are able to do in cooperation with the paddling community. Several times over the last two years we've had items on the message board requesting help with setting priorities for obtaining public access sites and for researching ownerships of property, etc. Five or six people have stepped up and actually helped... Cowper, Debo, Coogan, Lupe, Chester, Cadron Boy. If any of those folks want to :poke: , they are welcome to do so. I'm hopeful the ACC Bored will visit about the issue this coming meeting and choose to at least formally explore the paddling community's options on getting/preserving public access on the streams we all use frequently. That would be a very good project for the ACC to take on for the next several years...
