It took three of us six hours to clear FR1463. Most of the removals were pines which were fairly easy. I'm exhausted now, but it was the most rewarding day's work I've done in some time.

I hear that! The pines are almost fun to cut, although it does get old after a few hours.

Thanks for taking care of access to one of our other favorite streams while we were up on Richland!

Thanks Terry - great job on the road! We drove all the way down and camped at Dixon Ford that night, and didn't get to use our chainsaws. :-) We did hike into Adkins to see the damage and use the saw, but it was so bad, we didn't even try to start. Big hardwoods down all over the place. Figured that Boen and Beech are in the same boat, so we want to concentrate on those two in the near future. Other targets for clearing west of Richland would be Sandy Springs, Long Branch, and Boss Hollow.

No matter what is done to clear them out now, watch out for wood to be moving around and downstream for a few years. Lots of dead stuff to fall in and float down. The only semi-predictable ones will be those that were south of the ice line.
