Alright, someone's had to have tried one, speak up. My brother showed me these the other day are they as fun as they look?

Looks like they handle and track like an expensive innertube.

If by both of those comments you guys mean that they look like an insane amount of fun then I'll have to agree!

Maybe it's just that those boats are at the upper limits of their ability, but by the looks of it you could save some bucks and buy a Wal-mart pool float and some swim fins and have the same or better experience.

Ya but those things seem to hold up really well. And they only weigh four pounds! It's a single person raft! No one finds this amusing and wants to try one? Seriously? It sure would add a twist to the ocoee or Piney at like 6 feet plus

Some guys from Alaska recently got stationed down here in Louisiana. They sent me some pictures of them messing around in one at Kisatchie Falls. Oh yeah, check out backpackinglight.com. They have a forum, reviews, trip reports, and sell them in the site store.

I briefly reseached these once before; their materials of construction are a major cut above the dime-store rafts. You can't really compare them one-on-one with standard WW rafts; apples and oranges. This is a highly specialized thing that weighs 4 pounds and can be backpacked; just not fair to compare that to EITHER a plastic raft that rips on the first rock, OR to a full-on whitewater raft that weighs more than 100 pounds. I'm sure the 100# raft can take more abuse, and carry more gear, but then again I can't carry the 100# raft plus my other gear several miles if needed.
It doesn't quite make my "must have" list yet due to cost vs. number of times I'd probably use it, but YEAH, I'd like to try one just for grins!
