OT: Jen sets record on OHT run

Post by Susan » Mon Jan 26, 2009 1:50 pm

For those of you who know her, Jenny Foster (paddler, biker, runner extraordinaire) set out Thursday morning at 5:00 am from Woolum on the Buffalo to run the entire Ozark Highlands Trail, yes that’s something around 165 miles!

She finished Saturday evening at Lake Fort Smith State Park about 7:30 pm, beating the last record by about 2 hours. To say this was impressive is an understatement! She ran/walked all night and day, only sleeping around 2 hours (4 x 30 min naps) over the entire 62 hours.

She had several runners that paced her along certain sections of the trail and a support crew helped with resupplying her along the trail when accessible by vehicle. Congrats Jenny on achieving a dream!!

 Now thar's a girl who stands tall on the CB pedestal!! Way to go!

And makes having problems walking out from Richland seem so very trivial in comparison. :poke:

Congrats' Jennie you've always overachieved but that's GREAT!

p.s. the lost paddler may not belong to certain clicks but is a local boater and was a recent graduate of SWR w/some of our respected instructors, not just some a__wipe!

I know it's tempting, but if we want to rehash that other issue, let's start a new thread. This one is a tribute to Jenny! So with that in mind...

Wow! I mean, like WOW! When I heard her estimated time to the first checkpoint, I knew she ran marathons and because of that I was thinking she could get there a little faster than that, but I figured, what the heck, after all, it is rough terrain. When I was consulting with Charlie on best roads to get to the first two or three checkpoints in the Richland Wilderness area, later checkpoints and the final destination were never specifically mentioned so I didn't get a proper understanding of the total race length. I had no idea she was setting a pace she would have to maintain continuously for over 2-1/2 days and maybe 10 times that total distance. Again, WOW!

Don't know Jen, but WOW! What a task. Lotsa bravos. Congrats on the whole deal that had to go waaaay beyond the physical aspect, the prep and pulling this off had to be an amazing undertaking for the whole team.

Bet she didn't have time to take many pictures tho.
You sure this is on the right channel?
