Rollin' in Fort Smith Wed. Night (1/28) weather permitting

We'll be having another roll session Wednesday night (1/28) unless the facility is closed (or the instructors can't get there) due to weather. Feel free to call Andy or me on our cells if you want to make sure it is on -

The River Valley Chapter of the ACC will hold roll sessions at the Mercy Fitness Center at 7600 Dallas Street in Fort Smith on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of January, February, and March (1/14/09, 1/28/09, 2/11/09, 2/25/09, 3/11/09, and 3/25/09) from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Two lanes of the pool will be available for practice. The cost will be $5 per session for Arkansas Canoe Club members and $8 for everyone else. (Mercy Fitness members and roll session instructors will be admitted free). Please sign in at the front desk first; there are towels and lockers available. Before bringing you boat into the pool area from the side door, use the hose outside the door to wash your boats; their will be some bleach/water mix available inside to use as well.

These roll sessions are primarily intended for boaters who own and bring their own equipment; participants will usually allow others to try out their equipment, but please do not expect someone to supply equipment to you for the whole night unless you have worked that out with them in advance. We hope to have several volunteer instructors at each session to assist people working on their rolls.

The pool will be open tonight but there will probably be few or no instructors available for help, and no exta gear/boats to use. The roads are still ice-covered in Fort Smith with cold temperatures tonight making it likely that they will still be icy after dark tonight. I'll be there but without a boat as I am in Fort Smith and Andy and the boats are iced in out by Booneville.
