You need to thoroughly inspect the PFD. If you can read all of the information on the back panel, that is an okay indication that it has been stored well and well taken care of. Like anything, UV is the worst on PFDs, if its faded at all, then I might be wary. Used for 125. There's not a lot more to go, for a brand new Rescue PFD. If it were me, I'd probably buy new for that price used. Especially on a piece of equipment that your life and potentially someone else's life will depend on.

New they were around 2 bills, you're exactly right. But for me, the added cost to get something new, with warranty, that will be in my possession the first time its used is comforting. By no means did I mean to imply that you couldn't get a good used Rescue PFD, I was simply saying, be wary. Astral isn't making the Aquavest 300R anymore, so finding an "old" new one, or a used one will be the only option to get that particular vest. That said, I love mine.

No, I wear a Stohlquist Brik when I'm playboating. Been thinking about a Green Jacket though. Astral's new Rescue PFD...pretty nifty stuff.
