Bob - Susan says to let us know where and when to meet. We can only do a day trip as she has to be back at work Friday. Susan will paddle her Carolina and I will be in my canoe or the Carolina.

great!

this is just a day trip. but the water levels look great also. i'm thinking if we meet around 10 ish at the put in. off hwy 412 east. you know where the king river store is? "the chicken stop" the put in is 1mile west on 412, next to the yellow house, it's maked. but you have to be looking ! i know that we will have two bridge portages thats for sure! don't know if that will sway you on your craft slection or not. just giving you the heads up. i'll bring a cable and lock so we don't have to leave susan sit guard while we shuttle cars. sunny, and 50* should make for a great start on the new year!

Duh......What type bridge portages??? This will be our first trip on the Kings River on any section. We will bring sandwiches and thermoses of hot tea and warm clothes and ropes and cameras. Any other suggestions beyond paddles and PFD's???. Wasn't planning on float bags..... Was gussing it was somewhere in between Flat creek and Buffalo for type of paddleing.

oh boy, did we have a great start to the new year. sunshine and fun water, got to see some eagles , that flew from bend to bend of the river most of the afternoon. and 8 big black otters . only saw two people all day, and we suprized them setting in there lawnchairs on a gravel bar as we floated by.

... sorry you missed out!..

we give it two thumbs up for a day trip river,

And for those who say I never post any shots of the trips I go on, click on the link below:

Susan got me a Pentax Optio W-30 for Christmas and these are my first river pictures in a while, culls and all. Might get better when I finish reading the manual.
And a big Thank You to Painter Bob for showing us such a lovely river.

And for those who want written details, here is a "River Beta" trip report using the Ozark Mountain Paddler's stock "River Beta" outline.

Nice photos and an excellent report!! Thanks for keeping us all posted on river trips. I enjoy them tremendously and many times think it is such a blessing to live in north or central Arkansas and have such quick access to moving water. My consolation this week is the 40+ nice white perch (crappie) caught Jan 1 - 2 below Louisiana's Saline Bayou (our national scenic stream) in Saline Lake.
Please keep the reports and photos coming!!

It would be great to have some Arkansas paddlers down here sometime for a paddle/fishing trip. I'd swap those fish though to have been on an ACC group float or camping trip the past 3 months.
Also if my old solo Mad River Courier is finished (new wood, seats or saddle) by March I will bring some white perch filets to cook Friday night before one of the canoe camping trips on the Buffalo. If not, I'll spend a week on the Buff/Piney/Mulberry in mid May and make sure ya'll are invited for a fish fry then. Thanks for the response & congratulations on living in north Arkansas.
