Buffalo River trailbuilding January 3, 17, and 31

Hello! to each of you--

As weather allows, we'll continue building the Buffalo River Hiking Trail on the following Saturdays: January 3, 17, and 31; and February 14 and 28.

We'll meet at 9:30 a.m. on the South Maumee Road. To get there, take Highway 27 for 6 miles east from Marshall, AR. (or 5 miles west from Highway 14 at Harriet). At the Morning Star community, watch for the brown sign at the paved S. Maumee Road, and turn north on that road.

Our first trail-work Saturday, we'll meet where our trail intersects the S. Maumee Road, one-half mile beyond the National River boundary sign.

The next trail-work Saturday, we'll meet where a marked side road, Foggy Bottom Drive, intersects the S. Maumee Road, one-fourth mile beyond end-of-pavement on the S. Maumee Road.

For subsequent Saturdays, watch for an e-mail with an update on where we'll meet at 9:30. As we clear trail, we keep moving ahead.

Wear work clothes and bring a daypack with lunch and drinking water. The Park Service furnishes trail tools. However, if you have a chainsaw and know how to use it safely, bring your saw.
