What's on your Christmas List?

Post by RandyJ » Mon Dec 22, 2008 5:17 pm

Ran across a few things that would make nice boater gifts. Got anything to add to the list?

Ronin Pro Rescue PFD. Sponsored pros talking these up big, but I think Kokatat's still trying to work out some issues with the quick-release buckle before they can get Coast Guard approval to sell in the US. Looks like a NICE rescue PFD.

Neat Seat. Saw one of these at the running store today. Thick-padded seat cover protects car seat from moisture. Will get one soon.

Chammyz. Ran across these in Bermuda a few years ago - bought a pair of shorts and love 'em. Thick chamois-like cotton. Super-comfy and absorbent, apparently popular with surfers and divers, but unknown by WW boaters? Hope to get the lounge pants and/or jacket soon. First thing to pull on after getting the wet stuff off.

Nuun Hydration Tablets. Has anyone used these? Said to be better electrolyte replacement than Gatorade at about the same cost, but without all the sugar. Drop two tabs in a liter of water and go.

LVM One-year Subscription + Steep Creek Skills. Shoot - already had my Christmas list filled out before I found this. Looks like good coping tools for getting through dry spells, and more than just entertainment. Check out some of the sample segments at http://www.whitewaterinstruction.com

Olympus Stylus 1030SW Camera.Waterproof, shockproof, freeze-proof, and compact. Used Heath's 7MP version of this in California and loved it. Our next "family" camera. Dell sells for around $270.

Boats: Jackson Kayak has just started molding Little Heroes, and should be kicking out the Dynamic Duo next month. The Duo should be a blast, and a great teaching tool.

What's on your list?
Let there be rain!

RAIN..... And it looks pretty good for this weekend, Tom and I are heading East either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. Not sure where, but we will be camping for the weekend and watching gauges.
If what your doing isnt working, try something different.

All I want for Christmas is a Yampa permit... or an invitation for two spots on yours. :D I'd do the same for you, Santa.

To graduate from the Mulberry White Water School beginners class this year!

To magically be able to roll a kayak without having to go through the pain of learning and practicing!

hint, hint ... you should really start this hobby before mid-life crisis!

Merry Christmas and thank you to all that have been so nice to help me on the rivers this year, and the previous two years too!

500 cfs and 50+ fpm. Or 200 cfs and 150+ fpm. I'm not picky about where the creek is...

That feeling I had when I knew I was going to make it through that first big rapid. I'd like it on tap and on demand.
