hello to all,
made a paddle on lake ouachita statring at three sisters state park and went out to the north shore across from island 49. saw six different eagles and got real close to a baldy eating a fish dinner. water was dead calm and the loons were singing. 7 mile round trip and the lake pretty much to myself.
if anyone would like to join me on the next trip contact me.

I love seeing your photos on the morning tv shows! I spotted your eagle there the other day and told Roger, "Look! Dan!" but apparently my reference was oblique enough that he did not catch it in time.

Dan,
Great pictures as usual. Gary and I would be happy to join you on your next trip if the weather is nice and little warmer than today.

Great pics Dan,
We ran Dragover Saturday. First thing we saw were three turkeys in the campsite.
Second thing we saw was a baldy flying right past us heading downstream.
What a site!!! That white head coming at us, then the profile, then the
white tailfeathers. Majestic. What a beautiful country we live in.
Too bad we didn't have the camera ready...
Tom in Tulsa.
Did I mention...I LIKE PURPLE SNOWCONES!!!

Wonderful shots. Waiting on the next photo, maybe an OWL?

I was contacted by a neighbor stating that this owl would watch joggers every afternoon from his spot on a fence so I just walked up and took a photo and walked away without upsetting him. had to be young since fear is a learned behavior.

great owl shot. Met one Barred in Florida at Blue Springs State Park that would regularly land on fisherman's boats and stare at them until they gave up some fish bait.
True story: the maintenance crew arrived at Arkansas Post a couple of months ago to find a Great Horned Owl lying on the ground. Picked it up and there was a headless copperhead lying underneath. Vet confirmed - owl grabbed snake, snake bit owl (twice), owl bit off snake's head before dying. It was a juvi and underweight. Vet guessed it had been having a hard time catching food. Too bad it caught that snake.

the day hurricane gustav was coming thru our area, we found this great horned owl in our tractor lot in trouble

after a call to ms wildlife rehab, she was on her way to their facility. they said she was dehydrated, aneroxic, and possibly had west nile. after 6 weeks, she was well enough to let go, so they brought her back to where we found her and released her. it felt good to see her on her way again.
