where to buy?

Post by fettsway » Sat Nov 22, 2008 9:15 pm

Just needing names of retailers who carry flatwater kayaks in the Fayettville/Fort Smith area. I have seen the commerical members list and know about Lewis and Clark, Southtown, Sportsman Warehouse, Pack Rat.

I am not that familiar with the area and kayak manufacter's websites are not updated or accurate most of the time when you query local dealers.

I am hoping to find some deals on 2008 model kayaks.

The only choice in Fort Smith would be the Woodsman, in the mall. They may have some, I don't know for sure.

Academy Sports in Fort Smith also carries flat water kayaks. Depends on the $$ you're looking to spend.

Are you looking for directions or just names of places?

There are a few places in Rogers that I know of. Lewis and Clark and the one out toward Pea Ridge. Is it Ozark Sportsman?? And Sportsman Warehouse, like you already mentioned.

Fayetteville has Lewis and Clark and Pack Rat. They might have more, I'm just not familiar with them.

I know you listed most of these, I was just naming what I knew. If you need directions, almost anyone on the board could give you some. Good luck.

That one on HW 62N near Pea Ridge is Ozark Mountain Trading Company, owned and run by Larry and Bruce Jenkins. They had extensive inventories including an off site warehouse, with like 170+ boats in stock, last time I visited there in October. I don't work for them in any way, but was impressed with what they had for a "small" operation and their knowledge and caring manners. Most of their boats looked like rec boats, but they also had a Green River race boat and some nice sea kayaks, and trade-ins, which you don't see at other traditional stores. If you are driving north on HW 62, they will be on your left. Look for the canoes and canoe trailers out in front of an RV repair shop. Card I have of theirs says:

Address is 14644 E, HWY62, Garfield AR 72732

479-799-9227 Larry ( larry@ozarkmtc.com )
918-809-5357 Bruce ( bruce@ozarkmtc.com )

Just in case you wanted to know the details - Eric

What? The woodsman might have closed down? That's sad if it's true.

Haven't been to Central Mall in a while, though.
