Throw rope ?
Throw rope ?
I just acquired an older used NRS Pro Kayak throw bag/rope. Is there a way to tell if the rope is Dyneema without cutting it?
Just living the liquid lifestyle!!!

Re: Throw rope ?
Option 1: Use if for a bungie jump. If your feet remain attached to your body, it was not Spectra.
Option 2: I'm pretty sure NRS used the term "pro" only with bags that used Spectra, aka dyneema. But just to be sure, give them a call on the phone and see if they can confirm that. Worst case, they MIGHT have used the "pro" term with Grabline, or another specialty rope - from a marketing perspective, the term pro would almost have to indicate a better grade of rope than the standard nylon used in less expensive bags.
P.S. - I'm not 'dissing nylon ropes - they are sometimes better for people rescue, just not physically as strong.

Call Sterling 1-207-282-2550 ask for Matt or Sam in Rescue. Sterling puts different tracers in all there ropes. Some of there poly has a yellow outter core with two red tracers woven in a single spiral pattern. There Dyneema(Ultraline) has four tracers woven in a double spiral pattern. They look like a candycane going both directions in Dyneema(Ultraline). Thats about the only way i would be able to tell without cutting it.
