15' Wenonah ?

Post by robkanraft » Wed Nov 12, 2008 6:10 pm

I know there are some Wenonah fans out there. Has anyone paddled the 15'prospector or 15 Heron? Opinions?

No on water experience, but I'll try to extrapolate from what I know about other models and design trends in the Wenonah line. In general, the "whitewater" models in the Wenonah line will be very similar to the "general touring" or "fast downriver" models in the line-up of any canoe company that makes mostly whitewater models.

The Heron is going to be more stable, but probably a hair slower. It has much lower sides, so it will be less impacted by wind on open water, but it is also going to be a very "wet" boat even in relatively mild whitewater.

Unless you're looking for strictly a flatwater model, I think most boaters with a bit of experience (less concerned about super-stable boat) and potentially wanting to use it on some milder rapids, would find the Prospector to be the better choice.

Thanks Cowper, was thinking that also. Looking for a day tandem boat I can actually pick up and load by myself.
