My buddy in Utah had a nocturnal, semi-aquatic rodent gnawing on his fruit trees. The problem was getting out of hand, so he decided to address the problem. He set a trap, but he never suspected his problem was a 65 lb. dam builder. :shock:

The picture is of his son next to the Beav.

Gah...I would freak if that thing swam by me in my kayak!

It's the infamous GRIZZLY BEAVER!

Half rodent.....half bear....all business!

You could ride that thing if you had a saddle, holy crap!

But Dam never anything that size.

That is the biggest and hairiest beaver I've ever seen!!!!

Maybe we could train them, so that we could ride them to the top of steep put in's?

And go down before us and break up strainers?

Oh no...I just realized where I saw this beaver before...NARNIA!!!

I know Beaver have been traditionally killed to end their being a nuisance, especially with the timber concerns, but some 1/4" hardware cloth ( wire) around the fruit trees might have been all that was required to move him/her on.

Wow, I'm glad the opossum I trapped this week and let go in one of our lovely parks was only about 15-20 lbs. I would have been scared to death if that was in my trap!
Don't worry to those of you that would worry about me trapping a critter. He is very happy living in the Park. He is down there with all the rats I trapped several years ago!

WOW that is one large beaver.....I have three on my pond that will have to eliminated soon too.....they will not move on or go away....they like my pond and the large trees surrounding it, now they must pay the price......good trap.....beautiful animal!!

Ever heard of havaheart traps? me and my dad used to use them to get rid of unwanted critters. they work well and it doesnt harm the animal. http://www.havahart.com/store/live-animal-traps

We have occasional problems with beavers coming from the Caddo River over into our lake. I'd very much like to live trap them and move them elsewhere, but haven't figured out how to do so. Notice that the Have-a-Heart site does not list a trap for beavers. It would take a darn big trap. I usually use a snare, so they're generally alive, but I sure haven't figured how to move them and remove the snare while keeping them alive, without risking serious injury. Certainly open to ideas.
