OT NEED SOME HELP FOR MY SON AND WIFE AND TWO GIRLS

Post by Karla » Wed Oct 29, 2008 9:02 pm

Tonight my son and daughter-in-laws house burned down west of Russellville. They have lost everything, no renters insurance. They have 2 year old and 6 year girls. Something around the stove caught fire. If anyone has any clothing size 3's and 6's girls to donate, would be much appreciated. Even older furniture, other items, etc real cheap or give away to help them out. My son and his wife, will have to check out their sizes later.

Thankfully they made it out. Not sure about one of their two cats. My son is out of town, on his way home tomorrow am.

Appreciate any help. I am saddened tonight but thankful they are all ok.

They live off Hwy 333 near London also near the Piney lake. They are only couple blocks from the lake in the country. This was my daughter-in-laws grandmothers house they were living in (older house). They were letting them live there rent free but they carried no insurance for themselves and their belongings.

Thank you for your offer to help.

Hey Karla!
So sorry to hear about your kids and grandkids.
Hope they got some help from AR Red Cross?
Also, can you tell us clothes sizes needed? I'm sure your son and daughter will need some clothes as well.
Is this the son in the Academy?
Also, are they living somewhere they can handle furniture etc?
Susan

Karla,

A good source might be freecycle.org. Go to that site and search for Russellville, AR. You might find some items on there that your kids could use at a time like this. It's all free if its posted on that site.

Susan,
It is our oldest son who lives in Russellville. We should go up there tomorrow. Her parents were there today as they own the house they were living in. They had just started getting on their feet good now this.
Thanks for your thoughtfulness.

Karla, if you can get the adults' sizes for me, I've got some items that might be helpful. In fact, Kim and I'll be headed that way on our trip up to the Barton's party at Richland. I could bring them that way tomorrow afternoon/evening if there is a place for me to leave them.

Can't speak for Kim, but she might be able to help out also.

Karla:
I know it seems personal, but if we all had sizes, we might can find winter coats, some clothes, especially for work, that your son and daughter in law can wear.
I don't have any small kids, but do have things I was getting ready to donate to a garage sale and would love to share them with your kids instead.
We need to know what they need. Do they need a tv with stand? Winter coats (sizes), a real goose down (feathers can get a little sticky) mattress cover, I have Michelle's singel bed sheets from college that she only used 1 yr ... so, I have some items, just need to know what they need.
I think others will also pitch in if we know sizes of adults as well as kids, and if they have a place to put their furniture or are they staying in a hotel or with family.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.

Chris wears 4X, he is big guy. Pants I am not sure. Christyl wears 9-10 pants and medium to large tops. They had someone that got the girls coats. I know that Christyl said Walmart gift cards would be helpful. They are coming to Little rock area tomorrow to start searching for a new place to live. They had been thinking about moving this way anyway and I will find out more what they need. Coats for Chris and Christyl would be great and yes, their tv is gone.

From what Chris says, everything is pretty much gone. One item did survive that was a small kids rocking chair, very sturdy, it was covered with roofing debree so it survived. It was the rocking chair that Gary had when he was a child and now the grandkids have it. We were going to keep passing it down to our other son when he has kids after they outgrow it.

Where Chris works, they gave them a voucher for a hotel for 3 days.

Anyway, I truly appreciate everyones offers to help.

Hey Karla:
I'm working on some stuff.
I know I have a good working tv and stand, cute bedding stuff for the girls, either single or double beds, I think you need to just come over and lets look at some stuff. I was pulling stuff out for the Pulaski Academy garage sale .. hey, there's an idea also! They get really good stuff (a lot of new stuff too) and it is marked down really low. I'll check when the sale is! Anyway, I have household stuff, so we just need to look to see what you need. I've been clearing out the house since Michelle moved away!
Keep us all updated as to what all they need Now!
Be sure they contact Red Cross immediately for assistance. That is why I make my donations to them!
Anyway, you've got friends out here and we all need to clear things out to make way for the holidays. Oh, I have decorations to donate too!
We'll talk.

Karla, I also have some furniture to offer - let us know when they have someplace to live and we'll put something together.

Thank you to all who is helping out. They will be looking today for a place so may take a few days to find a place. For now they were given a voucher for 3 days hotel and they may stay with us too til they find a place. And Christyl has to find a new job around Little Rock area. She has a English degree and will be looking if anyone knows of any possiblilities where she can apply.
