Buffalo River Description-

Post by GloryDaze » Mon Oct 06, 2008 3:59 pm

I'm doing a 3 night 4 day trip the first week in November from Carver to Tyler Bend. Can anyone give me a good book that gives a mile by mile description of the river?? For those of you who are familiar, I'm wanting it to be somewhat similar to "Oz Hawksley" "A Paddler's Guide to Missouri"

Thanks!

Check out the "Buffalo River handbook" by Ken Smith. It gives a great mile by mile description of the river. Also has a lot of historical info as well.

There are two Trails Illustrated maps of the Buffalo River:
West runs from the upper reaches of the Buffalo to Woolum.
East runs from Woolum to take outs on the White.
They go hand in hand with "Buffalo River Handbook". Ken Smith did all three.

The Ozark Society has the Buffalo National River Canoeing guide that has the maps and description in one booklet.
Make sure you keep it dry. Pages stick together when they get wet.
