I don't know if anyone from the club knew him, but he loved the Buffalo, and spent much time there. I was browsing the North Texas River Runners website yesterday and read about it. The news took me aback, I did not know him, but just recently read his solo Buffalo trip report that was posted on their website. I sent him an email 9 days before he died of cancer, to tell him how much I enjoyed reading his TR; that I too had done a solo trip summer before last, and couldn't this summer due to my surgery. The next day I rec'd an email from him saying how happy he was that I enjoyed the report, although that trip had been many yrs ago, and that he wished me a speedy recovery so I could spend many years enjoying the river. I didn't know he was sick, didn't know him at all, but now I know I will think of him everytime I'm on the Buffalo.
His wife said they are planning to scatter his ashes on the Buffalo next spring.
It just reminded me again, that even though we get wrapped up in our busy lives and forget, every day is truly a gift.
