Northwest Chapter Scull Creek Trail Cleanup, Sept 29
Posted: Mon Sep 15, 2008 4:39 pm
It's time for more cleanup fun, this time in Fayetteville!
Monday evening, Sept. 29, the Northwest Chapter is cleaning up the section of bike trail and creek from the new Frisco bridge to North Street. We can clean beyond this area too if time allows (as far up as the next bridge just to the north of North Street). Jonna is organizing this event for us, and she and I will be there at 4:30, with the main effort starting officially at 5 PM and going until dark. Whenever you can make it is fine, just come out and help!
To get there, turn off North Street to the south on Gregg St. and then take a right (west) on Prospect. Parking is available along the street on Frisco St. near the intersection of Frisco and Prospect just west of Wilson Park and the trail bridge and creek are accessible from there. The city will be providing us with bags and gloves, or you can bring your own if desired. There is water in the creek, but it should be shallow enough to wade (expect to possibly get a bit muddy, since it's been so wet lately). The water will probably NOT be high enough for canoing. :)
We'll start with the Frisco St. Bridge, and there is a map available at http://www.accessfayetteville.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (follow links from parks and rec to trailways to scull creek trail). We'll be starting at the end of that street where the trail bridge is visible.
Tell your friends and neighbors (everyone is welcome to come) and let's give this new and popular creek trail a good first cleanup! See you there!
