Its going to happen. By this weekend the water levels may be too low on the upper section but from Carver down there should be ample water.
The plan would be to camp Friday night then get on the water by 10am or so and spend Saturday night on a gravel bar. We will camp within a mile or two of the takeout so that we can enjoy a leisure Sunday morning and get off the river at a reasonable time.
Also, i might consider doing Rush to the White if we can be on the water Thursday night or early Friday morning.

a little carver to woolum trip? .... sounds like a plan!
(this is a great fishing section , to any fishing folks thinking about coming with.) and a great place to be on a weekend!... no storm warnings
so i don't think mike and susan want to go! but maybe they will change there minds if we have a raccoon raid!, or howling coyotes in the distance.

What is this section like? Rapids? Moving water or long pools?

Carver to Woolum it is! (15.4 miles)
Carver(Mile 63) has 8 campsites($10), water and a vault Toilet.
Mt Hersey(Mile 70) is a mowed field with a vault toilet.
Woolum(Mile 79) is a mowed field with a vault toilet.
I am off on Friday. If the rest of you have that option, we could put in at Carver(Mile 63) on Friday, Camp somewhere between Mt Hersey(Mile70) and John Reddle Bluff(Mile74), then paddle down to the Nars(Mile 77) on Saturday, and take out at Woolum (Mile79) Sunday Morning. Is that doable for the rest of you?
Otherwise, we can camp Friday night at Carver, put on the river Saturday morning and paddle 13.5 miles to the Nars. Sunday would be a two mile paddle to Woolum.
Clif, We will camp at the Nars Saturday night so you would be able to be with us most of the trip.
Karla, there are a couple of long rapids followed by a two mile long pool just below Mt Hersey. Otherwise it is pretty typical of other sections of the middle and lower Buffalo

Re: Buffalo River-Sep 19-21-Canoe Camping-Carver to Woolum
I asked Susan while she was on the computer and she said I could go. Not sure she heard me, but she can't go, as she is going out of town on 20th. I plan on taking the cargo barge, AKA the 16' Mad River Endurall. I haven't done this section yet so am looking forward to it. Might have room if some body wants to tandem with me, but I am fine solo.

Sounds like a good plan. What time do we meet on Friday?

MB, aka Stan, I may be at Carver by 4pm. Not positive at this point.
Eric, if I end up solo I may try poling like you do sometimes.
Also, my daughter and son-in-law now live in Fayetteville. If one or both could go, is carpooling an option from NWA?

stan. anytime before dark,... so you can set-up your tent, and help find fire wood!>>the thing about these trips are, no plans seem to work the best! ...(other than the put-in time! and you don't want to be late for that !!!!!) we pretty much just GO WITH THE FLOW! ......each person will need there own food, and drinks. if you need some camping gear post your needs to see if someone has extras .. but, all of richard's trips are family friendly, and pack full of fun! and everyone is always welcome to join in.... but the new guys get the first BEAR WATCH! so the rest of us can sleep good .. just keep that in mind
......... just kidding you

I'll finalize my plans once I know if we are putting in on Friday or Saturday. And once I know when we'll do the shuttle.

It looks like Stan is the only one who can paddle Friday so we will go with the plan to camp Friday night at Carver and paddle 13.5 miles on Saturday. This means we need to complete shuttles and be on the water early on Saturday. Sunday morning will be much more relaxed. No time schedule.

Richard - Yes - Let me know ASAP when and where they would want to carpool from, so we can work out details in time. I'd be glad to split gas costs with the Suburban or go in theirs.
Eric
BTW - take a look at the weather forecast below. This morning they were calling for 30-50% chance of rain Sat and Sun and now it is gorgeous sun and warm. Will still pack my rain gear and some warm clothes for around the fire.
http://www.accuweather.com/forecast-15d ... 5&metric=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
also if you are going to stand up and paddle gondola style, it helps to be very steady on one's feet and have a stable canoe, unless you want to be practicing total immersion baptisms regularly, not that you can't do it.
Anyone, (like Painter Bob maybe) have any recommendations on what to fish with on this section. Thinking about bringing a pole along. And some extra butter, Citris grill seasoning, limes, and tin foil...... If I bring all the ingrediants, maybe the fish will be safe.... or tasty if they aren't.
