huricane ike and cossatot

Post by Upsidedown » Sat Sep 13, 2008 11:51 am

So more than likely the Cossatot/ Baker creek will be running tommorow (sunday). I am a medical student in Shreveport so I can only get out and boat if the stars aline for me. Tommorow that just might happen. Normally I wouldn't want to bring some bad karma and say the rivers will run but seeing how this might be my only chance for the year, I need to know if there will be other boaters around before I make the trip. Please Please respond to this message or call me at 318-393-6219. Don't be a stranger.
And don't worry I am a V boater from Colorado and have high water experience on the Tot/ Baker Creek.
By the way. My names Benjamin Luck.

If it goes off on SUnday, there will be plenty of boaters at the Tot. If you're a class V boater, check out Crooked Cr. down there if the rain is really big. Also, Clear Cr. in SE OK is a nice little class 4-5 run if it gets hit. I think we'll be boating steep stuff up here in NW AR, so probably won't come down to Tot tomorrow, but if we do, holler at me at fish at ozarkpages dot com and you're welcome to boat with us.

Man, I would run upper crooked tomorrow, if you can find someone to go with you. Its in the Cos vicinty and steeper/funner. Its hard to know where the creekers will end up tomorrow. Depends on the amount of rain. Hopefully someone will let you know whats up but it will most likely be a last minute decision. Good luck. Also, the Little Mo is a fun big water run when the level is super high, about 100 inches on the bridge. Jason Mellor and I did that a few years ago and it was a blast. We ran upper crooked and then did two runs on the Little Mo.

Hey Ben,

If those stars do line up, I'd be interested in tagging along. We paddled the Tot and Baker together back in December. I noticed you had a top ten finish in a recent kayak competition out in CO, congratulations.

I'll give you a call this evening.

I plan to be heading somewhere in the early am hours. my guess is that the storm is going to move through pretty fast, so upper crooked may be daylight at best.

the clayton area may be the place to be if it stays on the path it is moving now.

later Heath

Tot gage still jacked?
If so, anyone know how far off?
A few of us from Dallas are thinking about a day trip Sunday.

tot guage is supposed to be calibrated and reading normal.

the tot and lil' mo area are getting good rain. there'll be plenty of folks down there in the morning, fewer folks if the ozarks go too!

let's go boatin'!
