Mike and I were so sorry to hear about Dave's accident. He taught us both at whitewater school and we've rafted the Middlefork and the Yampa with him. We love to hear his stories of boating all over the world. Praying for your continued recovery, Dave.

A few years ago on the Middle Fork, I told Dave, and others, a college story about Jim Bob Mitchell, in which a guy was trying to guess Mitchell's nickname. He guessed "Monkey Head?". The story must have stuck with Dave!

More news from Francine. Dave is scheduled to be released from the facility in Prescott Valley on the 15th. His insurance will pay for Dave and a nursing attendant to fly to Tulsa. He'll go to a rehab facility there.

Francine sent me a picture of the staples in his back. A nurse removed them this morning. :) And Francine said that he can get himself from the bed to a wheelchair by himself! He's also been standing for a short while (very short according to Dave!) on his left leg.

Dave's laptop should get to AZ this weekend. Francine says he is looking forward to going online again.

Francine said that they've gotten several cards. Dave hasn't opened them yet. Saving them for his birthday (6th).

Hey everyone plans changed a little last night. They didn't get the medical escort out of Calif that we had been promised. I was on the phone last night until 1:00 am getting arrangements made and with a little attitude (alot) they found someone else to fly with him. They were picked up (Francine and David) by a limo and the medical escort around 10:30 am Arizona time. They will fly into Houston and then on to Tulsa arriving in Tulsa at 10:35 tonight. I will pick them up and transport David to Southern Hills Skilled Unit at 5712 S. Lewis. He will be medicated today more than usual to handle such a active day. I'm sure Saturday he will sleep alot but after a few days he probably would enjoy visitors. Lets hope and pray these plans don't change!!!!

Dang man..

I don't get on here as much as I used to (more's the pity) so I'm just now finding out about this. Dave is the only kayaking instructor I've ever had. Thanks to him I'm a MUCH better and safer boater and I can't thank him enough! I was horrified to read what happened and can only imagine how much worse it would've gone for a lesser paddler!

Reading everybody's posts reminded me of something I've known for a long time: paddlers, and ACC paddlers especially, are some of the kindest, greatest, most thoughtful people I've ever come across. Dave is a lucky guy to have such friends (as WE are lucky to have Dave!).

Dave buddy, thanks for your time and your patience. I hope you're starting to feel better and me and mine will keep you in our prayers. Best wishes buddy..
