I'm no "clubber", never differentiated between people who pay their dues from people that haven't or even people that are anti-club, to me we're all just paddlers. We have a like mind for fun - from cruising down the Buffalo to running class 5 rapids on steep creeks. And we look after one another, it's an inherit part or our sport and this code follows us even after we leave the river.

My point is, whether you pay your dues or not, we share a common bond - we all want clean, free flowing, accessible rivers. Whether you agree with the leadership or not, you can't argue with the fact that the ACC has our back when it comes to dealing with those issues. So however you feel about whatever issue, if you value our rivers and our ability to paddle them, consider joining the ACC and American Whitewater. Not because you will be in the "club", do it so we can all paddle, so our children can paddle.

I almost hate to jump into such a controversial topic for my first post as a new ACC member, but I do feel like the club needs to treat non-members better. I was such a member until a snafu with my password kept me from loging in. After several failed attempts to reset my password, many emails to the webmaster went unanswered. Upon joining the club I had to start an alternate emil to use this site. Apparently my real email is burned on here for good. As a discussion forum, I think we would be well served to embrace anyone who can add to the wealth of knowledge here. There have been occasions when I could have answered someones question if I had not been reduced to lurking in the dark. Having said all that, I do not really understand the "I'm not a club type" mentality. Just because you join up , a bunch of ACC'ers aren't going to come camp out on your couch. You can be as involved as you want or don't want. But $25 is not a lot to pay for a resource like this and by joinig you give a larger voice to an orginization that looks out for our interests.

Don't take this wrong, but I just have to tell you - yep, you're wrong! :poke:

Fish is not "the reason...", he is "one of the reasons". Yes, he did speak out strongly about keeping the board open to all boaters - but so did many of us, even the old fuddy-duddies. I don't want to take anything away from Fish on that one, I just want folks to realize it wasn't a single person, but actually quite a few that spoke up.

And Fish - didn't you know? We are BORG, and you were assimilated.

Ricky - It's Polack not poloc and don't be knocking them because I am half Polish (mom's 100%) :poke:

Oh, and are you not gonna paddle with me anymore since I'm a clubby and you're not??? What's up with all this club versus non-club BS? I'll paddle with anyone - I was actually having trouble finding folks for Baker Sunday. Fortunately Mr. Mackey and the Texan went with me and we met up with the Mellors, a kid named Tyler and Half Ton. We had a big time! No one even asked for resumes or whether or not we were club members - doesn't really matter when you're out on the water  I just wish I could find someone to do my work for me so I can take off rest the week.

How was Big Creek today???
Do we still need to do some lumber-jackin' at the take-out???(or for that matter anywhere else?)
Please give a report. Might be in the area Sunday.

It's worse than ever ,theres four that were there last year one nasty strainer mid way thats gota go the rest need to be cut down but only make the run that much funner . but four need to be cut out . mabee wenched . the one at the take out is not the same one from last year that caused the class 4+ take out. just holler wen yall want to cleaner out. still has h2o in just enuf to make cleanup hard, but not enuf to get a good runn. may have to wait till she's dry.
