Re: Bayou Chapter of ACC?
Thanks for taking the lead on this Harlan. Set the date for whenever works out for y'all. I may be on the river the weekend of the 6th, but I'll provide a letter showing my interest (and my vote for Harlan). I may be mistaken, but I believe the board will need the signature of each interested member.
Also, there's no reason that anyone interested can't sign up for membership at the meeting, so anyone who's not a member should still show up.

Harlan has set a date. Feb 6, 9:00pm at Buffalo Wild Wings off Youree, next to Lowes. If you want join us BCOS'ers at a game of Boat ball and work on your roll, be at LSUS at 6:oo and bring $10.00. Then we can head over to the ACC meeting. Make sure your boats are clean.
Thanks
Adam
Thanks

I won't be able to make it, so if there's something y'all need me to do, let me know. Better use me fast...I may be a river valley chapter member soon!

Re: Bayou Chapter of ACC?
I know 9:00 sounds late, but we will be at lsus @ 6:00 . We could start the meeting when were done with roll class and boatball[ 8 ish ] As long as everyone is present who wants to attend.

Re: Bayou Chapter of ACC?
Hey guys, sorry I am so late getting in on this. I am absolutely behind this and it has been something I've been hoping could happen since I moved down here. One of the biggest things I hated about leaving Little Rock was moving away from the proximity of the ACC. But I knew there were good paddlers down here and that a chapter was definitely a possibility. I'm all about anything that will help give back to the this sport and spreading the love. Put me down as an official backer on the founding declaration and let me know of anything I can do to help. I'm in!

Hey Ryan - you should be Harlan's VP. That is the only officer position they are lacking from what I understand. Looks like you aren't far from getting this chapter going.

Re: Bayou Chapter of ACC?
Reluctantly, I guess I do have a few concerns Harlan. But first I want reiterate my support for you as chapter pres. You've stepped up to get this thing going and I'd like to see you recognized for that effort.
However, every effort should be made to be as inclusive as possible. Setting a 9pm Friday night meeting doesn't provide a lot of encouragement for participation in the election of officers. But if as according to Renee H officer's have already been selected (by who?) maybe it doesn't matter.

Hey Butch,
I don't think it's a matter of "selecting" officers as it's hard to get people to volunteer. I know it's like pulling teeth to get folks to step up and commit. I was just pointing out that 3 folks have stepped up and a 4th officer is needed along with 15 committed members. I think everyone is trying to move fast to get this going before the next ACC Board meeting. I am no longer in Shreveport, but I am guessing that the boatball on Friday will provide a large turnout which is probably why they are trying to schedule a meeting. Hopefully, there's a large turnout and is somewhat inclusive. Renee

Re: Bayou Chapter of ACC?
I'd bet that the ACC Board would consider a request to organize a new chapter by an adequate number of paddlers even without having every officer selected... particularly if you have current members committed and a buncha new folks lining up to join. Keep up the good work!! Crane

Harlan and Adam, Thanks for the work in getting this organized. I'll echo the same thing as everyone else. Just let me know what help you need to get this going. I'll be stuck in Tampa for the next boatball session and meeting but I'll do my best to send Micah for a representative. Let's get this going so we can increase the paddling community down here. If anyone is interested in tagging along tomorrow the Goodwin crew has 4 boats probably headed to the Cadron early. Post back here and I'll check tonight or call 318-347-9600 cell.

Butch, are you freakn kidding !!!! When you started this dang thread you where all over getting this going. Renee, Harlan and I have worked our butts off trying to make phone calls, find out who would be interested in holding a seat on the board and so on. What have you "volunteered" to help with?? Do tell!! You even posted you wouldnt be able to make it to the first meeting,"It's your topic". I think if you want your voice heard you should come to the first meeting and stop hammering all of us on this thread!!!!! We all know that the board members have to voted on. The three folks that have volunteered there time and efforts to get this chapter going have just took a huge slap in the face from you. The reason i know, some of them have called me. Enough is enough, come to the meeting, we will vote folks in, get signatures and get it to the board meeting.

If the VP position is open or anything else, I would be most honored to fill a position and sit at the side of the majestic, honorable King Harlan.

Re: Bayou Chapter of ACC?
Put it on the message board and opened it up to discussion among everyone in the proposed chapter's area that might be interested, instead of just the people I know or hang out with.
Suggested Shreveport as meeting place because it would be the most convenient place to meet for most people, including you Adam.
Contacted Amos & Larry to get their input and posted a couple of times the procedure that I understood was needed.
Enthusiastically endorse Harlan, because he has stepped up.
Also enthusiastically encourage a meeting format that includes as many people as possible, giving everyone a chance to nominate and elect officers.
Showing great restraint in the interest of getting off to a good start.
Tell me what else I can do - I'll be there if I can.
