Hey Cowper, you didn't happen to save the gps coordinates for the trip did you? I couldn't make it but would love to go when the weather cools.

Sorry we missed the dinner we instigated for Sat. night. Felicia was kind enough to bring some type of virus home home from work (she's a para-pro at the high school) and give it to me. I am not as generous as she is so I didn't share it with y'all.

Man Cowper you made a day of it. I've been wanting to paddle the Pine Island area for awhile but it has been to hot for me. I enjoyed the pictures of the area. I've been there in a bass boat but am sorry I missed out on the paddle Sunday. Nothing like that drive down the long dirt road to get there.

Indirectly, yes, since I saved the entire track. Individual points can be extracted.

However, I know more now about where the stumps are; for example, about one quarter of my trip was a few hundred yards to the left of the track being followed by the main group, and I hit far more stumps than them through that stretch. Also, if I were to repeat the same trip, I would follow a much different route for the last three miles, UNLESS the water was about one foot higher. Right now things are at the minimum level that they allow, as there is a lock that keeps the water high enough to allow barge traffic on the main Ouachita channel all year long.

But if you are unable to go when we're headed over, send me a PM and I'll assemble a set of points that provides a suggested route for you.

For future reference, our level was 65 feet; levels can be checked here:

Finally got around to uploading some photos...

The majority of the shots are from Saturday, with just a few of the Sunday float slipped in...

For those of you not into following links, here was my favorite for the weekend:
