It might look good, but what about the smell? All Jokes aside, with its amazing feature and being so strategically placed between the white water of the Appalachians, and all the wonders of the west, Wister Oklahoma is the new white water Mecca of North America.

Found out that right here in heavener is the last true faultline in okl. in my opinion that why he have it good. water quality means very little when you can have these kind of flows all year around. plus 20 miles upstream is the cleanest unpolluted stream in okl. no chicken houses till it hits the poteau river system. If you want a clean wave the size of wister but not as constant thats only 20 min. away on the upper mnt. fork. If you havnt seen the toilet bowl rapid at flows aroun 15000 your missing out and clean. just alil prob with access.

That's because there's hardly ever any big water or creek boating. :)

But seriously, I am not trying to put down Wister. It looks like it can hang with the big waves anywhere - a world class spot fo sho. Just pointing out that while Wister is truly great, OK is not the "new Idaho" until it has hundreds of miles of big time whitewater that run at least half of the year. To steal a phrase from Lloyd Bentsen, gentlemen, I've paddled in Idaho, and Oklahoma is no Idaho...

I will check it out fo sho...I agree with Fish about it not being anything close to Idaho, but as far as "waves" go, this is one of the finest...and it's in my backyard, so no complaints from me!

I think Wister Wave should be renamed Idahoma.

I also think Spanke is the Francisco Pizarro of playboating.

I don't know what that means so I'm taking it as a compliment. Far Past Gone and myself are debated moving away from the ozarks for some actually decent whitewater in Oklahoma. If anyone knows of any good apartments in wister please post.
