Convinced wife and kids this would be a good trip, so looks like another truckload heading that way from Arkadelphia tomorrow. We'll be rushed to get their by the start of the release, so we'll be looking to bum a shuttle ride back up. May have quite a crowd on the river.

Byron,
Kevin and I maybe running a little late too depending on what time I get home tomorrow. I should be back in Arkadelphia around 11:00. Shuttle shouldn't be a problem.

I'm definitely going. I plan to meet in the K-Mart parking lot. I can drive and bring up to 3 with me, or I can ride with others.

Heather,
I'm standing by awaiting your direction.

It's Friday!

Rick - see you at the Kmart lot!

Mike - cold drinks? Hmm, I might have to pack a special cooler today! :D

See all the rest of you no good, sneaking-out-of-work-early-on-a-Friday slackers at the river!

Cheerio,
Heather aka Lupe

Sneaking out early nothing, I had to take off work altogether. =)

Shannon said she will meet us at the put in around 2. When will you guys be heading through benton? I may try and ride with Laramy as he and someone else are going, but they may want to caravan down to benton with you guys. I will tell him about the Kmart meeting, and when someone knows when yall will be heading back thru benton, just call me and let me know please.

You throw a great party Lupe! That was one of the best days ever and thanks to all the guys that had to catch us (ok, mostly me) at the take out! I really thought I was paddling hard, at least it looked it from my angle! Glad you were all there!
Dinner was a great way to end the most perfect day! Enjoyed meeting new friends too and I learned a lot .... stay away from the raft paddle!
Thanks again Lupe! See everyone soon .... hope we can do this again in about 2 weeks!

Heather, you call this river meeting again anytime you want as long as it's soon. You do know how to organize a great float and I appreciate it so much. Sorry that Jeff and I couldn't make it Don Juan's for dinner but the next time you're in Murrfreesboro, stop in at the restaurant on the left and try their homemade keylime pie. I took a bite for everyone making the trip today. For those of you who didn't play adult hookey today from your job, I'm so sorry that you missed it.

Lovely day! Thanks to everyone who came out to play! I'm going to keep my eye on the upcoming release schedules as I'd love to go back again if they run 2 generators. I enjoyed 3 as well, but I do think 2 has a bit more play. If I see a release and date that will work, I'll be sure to post an invite again! :P

Jeff and Mike - sorry we couldn't join you in Murfreesboro...but if you have found a new place, maybe we can try it next time. Maybe good PIE will be enough of a pursuasion away from MARGARITAS...

:!: Note to other Lil Mo paddlers!: there is a tree hanging precariously out over the water just upstream of the take out eddy. You need to go away from the bank to skirt the tree branches hanging in the water, and then turn and ferry hard to make the eddy. I know we often bring relatively newer paddlers along on this float, so just a heads up as this can be a challenging move. I suggest folks walk down and take a look at the situation when you run shuttle to the take out, and depending on your group, you might want to consider taking out on the other side of the river. Check it out over there first - but it looked to me like there is an eddy on the far side. The hill is steeper, so you might need to haul your boats further up to your vehicle, but it might still be easier than having to bushwack for 100 yards if you miss the eddy! At some point, this tree will fall completely and then we'll need to see if it washes downstream or perhaps makes an even greater obstacle. PS, although there is space to do some slalom moves along the bank to get to the take out eddy, do not do this unless you are 100% confident in your boat handling skills and/or make sure others don't follow you if they can't make the moves. It would be very easy to broach a boat in there in a bad way. I also wouldn't count on that route staying open as more debris could catch in there and create a greater hazard.
