For some good results, I would suggest trying to borrow a tractor with a bucket or drag blade, and try to regrade the areas..being careful of topfeeder tree roots. We use this method quite a bit at UALR, works well for areas that are almost beyond hope. Topsoil isn't all that expensive..around 25 bucks a yard..and when spread thinly..can go a long way for short cash. Maybe one of the nearby landowners has a tractor you could barter with to use.
For large spread out areas..you cant beat it.

Bringing this back up to the top again. How about it central area boaters? Anyone want to go help out on Lee Creek? How about a carpool?
