Hey Cowper, if anyone would be surfing with the rafts at the ledge, I would love to ride along in the raft. That has looked like lot of fun in the past.
Also, when is everone planning to float from Remmel down? Before or after lunch?

Hey Cowper, I really appreciate the offer, and I'd love to take you up on it, but since it was neck surgery, I think I'll have to pass (although I do have a call into the doc and will run it by him-think I know the answer tho.) Still, looking forward to seeing and meeting folks. Is there a way to get to the ledge from land if I want to just watch? I've never been, so don't really know what to expect.
Thanks, Leigh

You can take the exit at Malvern going south til you get to the McDonalds, not far from the interstate, turn by it and go down before the Wal-Mart and take a right, keep going and then turn on the road you see the New Holiday Inn being built, go past it, then turn right on the road that will turn to dirt keep going til you see a concrete bathrooms and a concrete boat ramp and walk down it, there are benches to sit on at the ledge to watch. That is accross the river from Porterfields.

Re: Surf & Turf 2008 (July 26)
Leigh,
Yeah, for a neck injury, I'd say staying on shore is the best bet. You can drive down to the Porterfields area (directions previously given) for the food; from there you can see some of the ledge, but the "best" viewing willl be if you drive over to the other side of the river after you eat (Karla's directions) and walk down the ramp and up the sidewalk to the viewing area. That will put you very close to the action.
Others; I'm sure there will be raft rides; I've already seen enough interest that it may exceed the number of rowers. I want to play in my little boat some of the time, plus, raft rowers have to be aware that we take up more than our fair share of the eddy, so we typically surf a few times, then move away to let the kayakers have at it. Also, we may have to give priority to the little kids (or some other system, maybe )
