And what are the ideal levels for SUPing?

And any guesses of what time of year is best for catching water levels?

Thanks for any info.
I believe Mike has the right levels in mind for prime surfing for both SUP & play boating. Yet I was out there last night with the level around the 2.29ish (the lowest level that I've been on out there) & had a blast with the play boat, didn't take the Sup! Last weekend Coty had his badfish MVP out there & he was really cuttin the upper wave up. Did not look like he was having any trouble staying in the wave. So I'd say its super fun year around. I will say that it is very very friendly now with no repercussions & the bigger it is the pushier the water gets. The bottom wave is pretty much a hole right now. Someone even referred to it as looking like a low head dam last night, which can still be side surfed but on river left its very shallow. As a beginner this would be a opportune time to go try it out,(the upper wave) then when the water level is up, you will know what to expect & how to self rescue Yourself, your boat & gear in case of a swim. As a seasoned paddler I'd say Mike hit the nail the head . :kayak: :canoe:

We have been here since a long long time ago, Mike!

It looks like very soon [6 weeks?] the 'north' and 'south' side will only be a short drive apart.

I'm pretty sure all the complaints are in good fun. All my banter is. I really don't care what they call it, as long as it stays open and there is a minimum of stupidity. -M-

Gawd. That practically leaves me out since I almost exceed the maximum.
I was out there Sunday and had a great time at 2.3. Something clicked (lean forward and paddle like crazy as Cole told me). It's a great place to learn and it runs all summer. I think it's funny that this whole thread is following Holland's post and she must find it really amusing following our banter. In her blog, she does a great job encouraging families to have their kids wear PFDs and so many do now. It's just a fantastic place.

I didn't even think of Holland reading this. I hope she's too busy to read my stupidity. -M- :shh:

Kayak park is a awesome name & a lot better than a name that would let the public think there would be life gaurds on duty because there is absolutely no life gaurds . Wearing a lifejacket , helmet & proper foot gear is a good start

Exactly, Rob. "Whitewater Recreation Park" somewhat led many to think it was Slip and Slide. It's something different but there's a place for everybody. I love how the kids ask questions and someday they'll be safely advancing into a challenging and rewarding sport by learning from you and other regulars.

Thanks for the levels info, excellent beta to know. I'm trying to figure out the best time to attempt a trip, its 8 hrs away for me, I'm in Iowa. A winter trip down there would be nice when everything up here is solid.

I sense some confusion here. Kayaking IS the dark side, the land of the lost. If you're trying to recruit open boaters, you are calling them back TOWARD the light.
