Okieboater,
Both my sisters live in the T Town area(Bixby,Coweta)and I was the second Tool and Die Maker to work in the Owassa Whirlpool factory so I am famililar with the Tulsa area although it's been a while since I've been up there.
I've always liked the town, just a little large for my taste. When I wanted to go to a bigger town Tulsa was always my first choice even before I worked there or my sisters lived there.I always meet great people when I go there.Sorry to hear about bad things happening in a good town.

Moniker,

Still a good town to live in - when compared to many other towns.

But crime in some areas of town is really bad and according to the local nightly news not getting any better. Tulsa just had an election for Mayor and one of the big topics batted back and forth by the candidates was increase in crime.

I used to live close to Coweta in the county and now am in Tulsa County right on the line (actually just a few houses inside Tulsa County) between Glenpool and Jenks and go to the YMCA in Bixby at least twice a week for rehab in their Yoga classes. All these towns seem to be doing better crime wise than the Metro Tulsa area. In fact, in some of the weekend places to eat in Glenpool you can still see what is left of old time real cowboys and their wives out for dinner. Pickup trucks, levi jeans, real boots and starched white cowboy shirts. But this dress code is giving away to baggy pants low on hips and hoodies for the teens. TV goes every where these days I think.

I believe the drug, gang and drive by shootings are happening just about every where. Tulsa is maybe late to that game tho.

I remember the mid seventies when I moved to Tulsa, and maybe it is just me, but if the home invasions, car jacks, drive by shootings happened they were not in the news then and now it is common for the local news to report at least one some times several going on.
