Is this an event for members? I'm not a member and haven't made it to a meeting, but am interested in meeting fellow central Arkansas paddlers!

If it is open to anyone, what all would I need to bring? I think I've gleaned from the posts that there is a meal followed by a float, but not sure what I would need to provide? Do I need to figure out a shuttle?

It is open to members & non members from what I understand.

We can help shuttle you - we will have our truck & trailer. There will be other folks helping shuttle too.

There is the cook out & paddle or you can do the other way... pretty up to you but most folks are heading out around noon from what I can tell.

Bring side or desert...

Thanks for the invitation! I know this is now super late, but as a displaced northerner, not used to having quickly moving rivers nearby. I have only rec kayaks with no skirts and have never been on the Ouachita - am I going to regret this like I somewhat regretted the North Cadron? :) Regretted in that it was awesome for me since my stuff was all strapped down, but awful for my sister as her camera was not when she got hung up followed by me when I went to try to get her. Just wondering what I need to be prepared for!

Bullseye,

I think you will be just fine in your Rec. boats. Do come if you can, and join in with the rest of us floating the river trip, it should be a great day. It is not windy&twisty like the Cadron. However, it is always a good policy to secure the camera :D , and all gear.

Best Regards
Jim

Bullseye, come on down for surf and turf. The Remmel to rockport section is easier than the cadron. You will enjoy it.

It may be to late to mention this but just looked at the site on Google Earth - we have a trailer how hard will it be to get in/out of the property? Pull through - turn around or abandon all hope?

Noticed there is not water on site - will bring a flat of bottles to share.

Not to worry. Plenty of room for trailer jockeying.

The 52nd Annual ACC Surf&Turf was just a very fun day today!! Many thanks to Tim Eubanks for getting it organized, to the team of Chris Martin and Steve Gabbard for cooking delicious hamburgers&hotdogs, &peppers :D To all the other volunteers for side dishes, shuttles, and great company and visitation on the river. I hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as Miss Marlo and I did.

Best Regards
Jim

Jim, you beat me to it. Big thanks for sure to Chris and Steve for manning the grill and good grub, all the folks who brought food, and everybody who came for making SurfnTurf 2013 a super fun day.
We had paddlers from Louisiana and Texas and the Northwest chapter was represented as well(Tom, Tracie, and Avery).

Jeremy provided demo boats and good tunes and even managed to pull off a successful HTTD minus the Cossatot Contingient.

Hope to see you all again at Rendezvous!

I'd like to echo Jim's thanks to everyone, but would also like to mention a few names: Barb, Sandy, Mike & Julie, I never saw you after we left for the river, but I do still remember your names. I was pleased to float today with Linda Self, Susan from Chicago, the Beebes, Paul Smith, Larry Crane and his co-captain Ross, and Ross's dad Lamar. Everybody did well and survived the ledge! Well done! :yahoo: I intended to see Susan from Chicago, Lamar and Ross before I left to tell them what a pleasure it was to meet and float with them, but Susan peeled off to paddle to Porterfield’s, and by the time we loaded up at the ledge, Jim was running short on time to get back to Porterfield’s before they locked the gate. Larry, thanks for bringing Lamar and Ross; bring them back again soon! Pictures are on the way.
