Max,
As also stated in previous post "improvements can be done really well or really poor" . Even with best intentions for "mans improvement" to natures system just for recreation or education that might not also be conservation. Something that meets all 3 criteria is winner for sure.
As also stated in previous post " why not go to wild river country for man made feature for white water play and education?". As in make something not on a river system that accomplishes the two main goals of the potential project.
A few more questions to help me understand where you are coming from:
What is currently not sufficient at Rockport for education or play?
How does not completing this project in a rush accomplish the vision?
How does the non- completion of this project interfere with the existing mission of the organization?
Why do humans feel the need to improve nature?
None of the new comments made by you, Max, answer any of the above questions presented. It would be an honor to hear what your responses to those questions are as it might help you and I find some common ground. FYI - I'm not a decision maker around here and most folks don't take what I say very seriously. I am a doubter about the " improvements" concept in this case though. Win me over though and I'd imagine that you would have great start towards influencing others who are doubters.
Also take a look at the link in my last post and take a look at this new one
