You bet there will be something going on at O.O.O. We are going to have demo boats at the ledge and a big sale at the shop this weekend, but I digress from the important stuff. The "OOPs" party!! Live Band, snacks, (it is BYOB), but the store will be open for those traveling a long way and needing a place to crash out, or for those party animals that need not be driving. Look forward to seeing everyone this weekend!

Quick questions... sorry if these are asked elsewhere...

Memphis guy here and I'll likely bring my kids (10 and 12). They're yaking some but probably not quite ready to surf the Rockport wave (pool rolls but no combats yet). So it sounds like dam to ledge floats will form fairly spontaneously during the day. Correct? and how long is that float?

We'd like to camp Saturday night. Is there an appropriate venue? primitive is fine. I see the O.O.O. folks are hosting campers but i want to make sure that scene "too adult"... loud and fun is OK... but...

The run down from the dam (not counting shuttle time) can be anything from one hour to three depending on how much paddling you do vs. how much drifting you do.

Camping opportunities abound. I believe someone mentioned being able to stay on the Porterfield property with a permit (no facilities at all, except maybe a port-a-john and that I don't know about for sure.) Lake Catherine State park is a few miles up the road with full hook-up type camp sites and I think they even have "tent-cabins" that they rent. And if you are going to the party-after at OOO there are lots of places to camp in and around Hot Springs including the National Park sites at Gulpha Gorge, Ouchita State Park, and numerous National Forrest sites within 30 minutes drive.

Bump ---- and remember the potluck --- we really need folks to bring sliced tomatos, onions and lettuce for the burgers. If you enjoy S&T, pitch in a bit to help! Thanks!!

Hi everyone, the doc has cleared me for driving up for the S&T  I'm not going to be able to paddle yet :x, but I thought it might help to at least spend a day with fellow paddlers; I really need to see some moving water, and at least be a spectator! I had such a great time at the rec school and I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar faces as well as new ones :D I'll be happy to bring anything that's still needed (I'll check the post before heading to the store tomorrow pm.)
P.S. Lupe, I'll bring the book I spoke of and if you'd like to borrow it I can get it back at the Rendevous.

Leigh (I'll be the one without a boat on the car :( )

TUM (typicaluprightmonkey), we'll probably have over 200 folks, but don't think you need to bring enough for everyone. Hopefully, at least one other will bring some too. So if you could slice up 6-8 large onions, that would be wonderful.

lbaker -- how about lettuce? -- a couple of heads washed and separated would work?

Others, I know some of you grow tomatos (or frequent a good homegrown tomato stand or farmer's market). If some of you can slice up some good homegrown tomatos, it would be wonderful.

And as always other potluck items are appreciated!

Thanks for your help on this!!!

This will be my first Surf and Turf - looking forward to it. I have been an ACC member for several years, but have only recently registered to the message board.

My oldest daughter (Emily) has a question: Will the ramp of death be there? She won't be ramping - it is a spectator sport for her.

Kim - I will bring some sliced tomatoes. I will plan to bring 8 large ones.

Sugarmtngal - I think you know my brother Jeff from Fayetteville (don't hold it against me). I plan to do the float down from the dam with my family (wife and 3 kids - 11, 8 and 5 years old) in 2 tandem canoes, so you will be able to spot us. I hope to meet you.

Don't give me "TMI" (too much information); don't want to post specifics; but did want to let you know there will be some rafts there. If some jostling around and getting splashed isn't a problem, we could set you up with some raft rides to get you closer to the action. I've never seen anyone fall in the water from a raft at Rockport, that wasn't essentially doing it on purpose. (but you might get wet) If any of this appeals to you, find me or DeBo at S&T and we'll talk.

Ramp of Death: Never part of an ACC Event, so I honestly don't know if it is going to be there or not. The owner knows when S&T is, and like any boater, he sometimes brings his toys to the river, and like any good person, he typically shares his toys. On the other hand, a friend of his is getting married this Saturday, so that could delay arrival or even keep him out of the mix altogether. Unless he posts, we'll just have to wait and see.
