Much better beach areas and safer ones than Jaco. We visited there and got the impression you did not want to venture out at night. ALso the water quality was suspect. Monster waves but really not the cleanist area from what I have been told and witnesses.

Try costa rica rios in Turrialba. They did a really good job of putting a trip together last winter, and they have a pretty good fleet of boats there year round. I know noc uses their cabins on the pacuare and their bed and breakfast in Turrialba. Most of their guides will be in the states or on the Ottowa. Marco is probably down there in the summer and he's a damn good paddler.

I have been dreaming of kayaking there too. The economy is dragging me down though. When it gets going again, I will be interested in going.
