I take mine out to lake Ann because it is close to the house. I would give you fair warning that all the Bella Vista lakes are considered private and are requiring all boats, to include kayaks and canoes, be reg and tagged. I could care less but others get a little pissy from what I hear.

I had one of the POA enforcement guys get after me one time on one of Bella vista's lake when I was doing canoe merit badge with a group of girl scouts.
It might be a little different now that Bella Vista has incorporated into a legal city, but just like the golf courses up there, all the lakes belong to the POA and they limit access to property owners and require a ID Sticker on every boat.
Lake Bella Vista is different and now is a part of city of Bentonville, patrolled by uniform city police on bicycles. OK for at least canoe and kayak, plenty of public parking on both sides of west end. Sooner or later Bentonville Park guys will probably make a bunch of rules but nothing unreasonable has happened so far.

I've got a Probe in my storage building that you can try and see for yourself. I don't remember which version it is, difference is 6 or 8 inches in overall length. You might want to try my Esquif Blast, another 13 foot design, before you buy something.
Most 280#paddlers are going to use a 13 or 14 foot boat after they get a little experience. The difficulity is there aren't many whitewater canoes around, either solo or tandem...

Another concern is rolling over everytime I move. I can get used to that though.
But for the price....I think I can learn on it OK. I would liek to at least sit in your and see how it feels. Not sure I want to put it on the water today....hahaha Its COOOLD!

We can take two or three of my boats to nearby lake when weather is a little better. Side by side comparsion of just a couple of basic warmup drills can be a real eye opener.
Comfort is a big time problem in a lot of whitewater boats. Really good standard advice is try before you buy. Outfitting is only a part of comfort, if you get a hull that isn't right for you, life can be miserable. On the other hand, when everything is right, there's nothing like it!

Hey Monsoon Coming,
If that FJ driven is one of the new units, how is that truck treating you?
Looks like a real good 4 wheeling machine
just wondering
what the gas mileage is based on a real driver not the sticker posted mpg.

Nope, it is still my best truck ever. Paid for and still running strong. V8 engine and all. Coming back last week from Georgia I got in a situation in Nashville where I had to floorboard it and when I looked down it was passing xx and still going strong. Fortunately, it was late and no police protection in the area.
Got 78 grand trouble free miles on it.
Maybe around 150 grand or so, after this seasons trips out west, I'll look around.
I'm gonna take a look at some of the SUV units this time around and am hoping some of them come up with a engine that I can pull trailers with and get reasonable hiway miles per gallon.
Hoping some body gets the new small diesels in either a decent sized SUV or mid sized pickup by the time I start shopping.
I hear some of the mid sized Chevy pickups are getting good mpg and can haul raft trailers. This might get me back to a Chevy or Ford unit.
Wish GM would come out with a smaller sized Surburban with a nice little modern diesel in it. I like the big diesels just do not feel they got the maintenance down to the point I can keep them up like they deserve.

FJ Answer
OKIE BOATER,
I bought my FJ in October. It is a sweet ride. I love it. It is an 07 fully loaded 4x4. Gas mpg is about 17 in the city. The only trip I've driven it on was to Dallas as soon as I got it ,and I got about 18 or 19 right off the bat.
I took it for an off road test before I bought it and it does magnificiantly (sp?) uphills and in the drink. It has a clinometer so I could tell when it was time to stop climbing. I was only able to do that because my uncle is the Finance mgr at J Pauly in FS and he let me tear it up.
