We do think it was either sick or injured. It just kept letting us get closer. Was able to get it out of the water and see that it's wings and feet seemed ok. Hope he was just dazed and confused. Definitely will never forget the Christmas eagle. We saw 4 more including a juvenile. Awesome day for sure! - M- :yahoo:

Sherri and I had a great time on the christmas Mulberry float. Perfect day, perfect companions. Not only a downed eagle was spotted but two other eagles flew along with us for quite a while.

The AGFC responded rather quickly last night , they handed off the info to the Non Game Migratory Bird Biologist.

WOW!! Looks like y'all had a blast. I can't believe the eagle. I too hope it wasn't hurt.
Old Santa had a GREAT year 890+ young ones and it all started with the ACC visit. Now I'm ready for some water.

Sorry you missed it Jerry. We were saying how perfect the date would have been if only Santa was there. Here's the best of the eagle pix.-M-

Yes We missed you Jerry. Maybe sunday we can get out if we get some more rain!

TRIP REPORT:
What a awesome day, really don't know where to start. Well I don't have to because Mike, Cory , Brad & George has really took control of this trip report & I thank you. I agree with the friends we all floated with was the best part of the whole day. I Thank each and everyone of you for coming & making this one amazing Christmas day .
It started out cold yet the sun quickly came out & turned out a perfect temp . There was 11 of us that paddled from big eddy to Campbell cemetery . The water level at Turnerbend was reading 2.45, Which I thought was low yet it turned out for a great float. Big thanks to Stephan for giving one of his excellent safety talks which was as great as ever in the eddy below big eddy. Then down river to the adventure that laid ahead of us. There was a lot of pools yet the rapids was still running at a good level that wasn't boney at all. NO SWIMS. Oh wait Cory took a swim showing off his surf. Yet I'm sure he meant to do that. jokin. :poke2: . Everyone enjoyed the whole trip. Plus a bonus of being amazed & saddened by the eagle that was injured on the shore. Yet Thanks to Cory for addressing this satiation & getting a hold of the right people to help this bird out. All in all, I agree with Michelle when she said " Best Christmas Ever". What a great day. Thanks everyone for sending in these GREAT pictures!!
See ya on the water,
Rob
