Re: (Stanley!)GrayRock Royalex Canoe info? Update w/pics
Pulled out my old Grayrock and gave it a good "spring-cleaning" today and had an idea that may be of interest to others on this thread. I'm working on getting some replica "Grayrock Stanley Canoes" decals printed off as there doesn't seem to be many left floating around. I'll be using what's left of the originals on my boat as a template/reference and see that they are as close to the original as possible. If anyone on this thread is interested, let me know and I'll see what I can do to accommodate.

BTW, I see there was some discussion earlier as to hull material of Grayrock and I thought I'd mention mine has an older Royalex decal along with the ugly end-caps. I'm guessing it was one of the earlier Royalex laminates but that's fine as it looks extra thick.....

Hi there,
I realize this is an old post but thought I would jump in anyway as I've been looking for some history on Grey Rock Canoes as well. Here's a pic of a Gray Rock canoe I picked up at Mad River Outfitters in Springfield in 1988. It has a carving of a bass jumping out of the water signed by K. Adamson. Not sure who the artist is but would love any info if anyone knows of him. I appreciate everyone's info on Grey Rock - it was nice to read about Don Stanley and get some history on the canoe. You all are spot on, it is very well built. A very stable design, runs shallow and great to fish from.

Robert, if I'm not mistaken, K. Adamson is a lady who did a few deck plate carvings for River Maddness in Springfield. The co-owner of that store, Gene Shoenhoff, could probably fill you in on the details. He has a FB page (Hermann, Mo). I'm sure that he wouldn't mind you messaging him about it. I remember making a trip with him down to the Grey Rock shop one day to talk to them specifically about their deck plates. Btw, nice canoe.
