Those of y'all famaliar with Big Bend NP and Terlingua might find the below link interesting (and sad):

That's sad. Spent a few memorable nights in La Kiva when the Bend was my go to place. But it's not the same as its remoteness has diminished and the influx of investor dollars have changed the landscape.

Gone are the days of Uncle Joe's Bar and Grill. Lot's of stories from those days. :myday"

Can't add anything to what's already been said except that it's a magical place, not like anywhere else. If you haven't been before you need to go. Just hiking and hanging out to discover the place is worth the drive even if you don't float the river. If you do float Boquillas Canyon is a good first time trip cause no real challenges and more dependable water flow from the springs around Rio Grande Village, and canyon scenery that will blow you away.

Fish - I agree with all the items mentioned above, and I especially agree that the water quality is terrible. One further comment is that they do not allow dogs on the river in the National Park, if that makes any difference to you. Also, we found a good outfitter by the name of Far Flung Outdoor Center in Terlingua. If you do contact them, ask for Greg or Valenda and tell them that you know Mike Mills. They are great people.
