I'm in also, for the kayak clinic.
I would like to see a list of jeremys' stinger xp vs remix xp GC setup, and maybe some of the things others on his trip had that he might have envied(even though he works at a premier shop). definitely want to spend some days on the buffalo afore the skeeters get back.

Can't really go wrong on any stretch of the Buffalo as long as it has enough water. I think Woolum to Gilbert is probably my favorite stretch for an overnight camp.

Now that I know what the Rendezvous is (thanks Deuce!) I would be interested in something like that as well!

I love canoe camping. 30 years ago that was what "paddle sports" was all about. You had the ACA, ACC and other canoe clubs and the publication was "Canoe" magazine. A great deal of emphasis was on tripping. In the 90s things began to change and today canoe camping is on the back burner.

What is the Rendezvous? I have a sit on top kayak I do a lot of fishing out of. I would be interested in an overnight trip on the Buffalo but have never done it.

E-B, Rendezvous is our annual club wide get together. We start gathering at Camp Couchdale on Lake Catherine Friday, September 12 and enjoy a weekend of mini skills clinics and friendly competitions, paddling, camping, eating and more. All the chapters are represented but one need not be a club member to attend. We have a great time together. If you want to see a more detailed albeit out of date description click on the Events tab then Rendezvous. I haven't updated it for this year yet but you'll get an idea of what it's all about. Make plans to join us and bring your family!
You come too.

Mr. Richard, I stumbled onto this message board a few years ago because I was seeking advice on float camping. Had it not been for that I would have missed out on some great times and some great friendships including yours. The direction of this thread and the fact that I've never met many of the commenters is very encouraging and tells me there's still great interest in multi-day trips. We need to nurture that.

Sounds like a great addition to Rendezvous! I have never done any overnight trips and would love more info for packing a kayak.

Hey Deuce,
Are you going to have a presentation for BWCA canoeing and camping? Sounds like a neat get together! I will check my work schedule and see if the wife and I can't come down and meet you and some others at least for a day.

Basically, what works on the Buffalo works just as good on BWCA - or at least in my opinion.

BWCA has portages - Buffalo has some low water scrapes.

Both areas beautiful in their own way.

Bugs tho in BWCA are killer bees in disguise. Be aware and have bug nets for sure.

Dave,
Thanks for the insight, however I have spent probably 20 times more days and nights in the Boundary Waters than I have on the Buffalo. It's my place I go to when I really want to get away. I just posted that about Deuce having a little BWCA info at Rendezvous because we recently met and communicated on a board where I am a moderator, http://www.bwca.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Wife and I still would like to load up her kayak, and my canoe and come down and visit and get to meet some people. Unfortunately, I think I have more paddling friend in Minnesota than here in my home state!! We prefer somewhat flat water, although we like to float the Illinois Bayou.

Bruce,

I have spent a couple weeks up in the BWCA and it is truely a magical place to spend time in. Hope to get back up there soon.

Lots of time on the Buffalo and it is magical as well.

Come on down / over from where ever you are and float the Buffalo with us. Watch the message board as lots of Buffalo trips start there.

Lots of good fall, winter, spring floats down on the Buffalo as well to enjoy.
