Due to visiting with an old friend in town for the holidays, I didn't get to the OB till just after the meeting was over. The only familiar faces I saw were Dave and Morine. I saw many new faces, and I hope this leads to more group involvement and an increase in club membership. I guess I should pay up on my dues as well. I'm sure this will impress the powers that be, that the club can and will step up to assist in boating related activities.
This event will be held in the shallow end of our indoor Olympic sized pool. I welcome one and all to join in to watch the activities. This event will be starting around 6p. and should wrap up on or before 8p. Mike and I should be able to shuffle all the canoes around, and their should be students abounds to assist if needed.
Again my personal heartfelt thanks go out to Mike and the ACC for the assistance in making this all come together for the students of UALR. This might also be a good membership building activity, so if any students have any questions, Mike and I will be there to answer any and all. :yahoo:

Well, the Battleship event at the pool went off without a hitch, and was enjoyed by all the students involved. Their was a resounding message that they wished to do this event again. My personal thanks go out to Michael S. for his services in providing canoes for this event. I believe we have the makings for a more active youth movement within the paddling ranks.
Keep your eyes out for video coverage of the event. I know their were a couple of people other than myself shooting any footage of this event. John Elwood showed up just to film this event, and our campus' student affairs covered this event as well. I will post links to the footage from our (ualr) side when it appears. And I'm sure Jim will have his footy up soon as well. Thank you all for your offer to donate boats for this event. I will be talking to the campus' recreational director in a few to decide where to go from here. I believe a collage float in the spring would be a good thing!
Thanks again all for your involvement and commitment to this most enjoyable of activities.
