Your Conservation Chairperson
Re: Your Conservation Chairperson
Thanks for all your efforts Debo, I really, really appreciate it. Halfton, show me a local who loves the river, and I'll show you someone who is against the hog farm. Again, I live in Compton and have a business in Harrison, I know and count as friends folks from all walks of life, locals, outsiders(anyone who wasn't born here),farmers, outfitters, small businessmen and women, poor(financially), poor(spirit), rich(financially), rich(spirit), nice, and just downright mean(mostly locals). I love them all, and treat them all with respect and kindness, however, if you are right about the local landowners being the only hope for the river, the river is dead. If big AG starts pumping money to these folks, it will be sooner rather than later. However, I don't want to be dismissive of the watershed approach, and I need to be better informed. Right now, I am really reconsidering and rethinking our investment and expansion in this area, I have been a huge supporter and salesman for this wonderful place to live, but the future is NOT in huge CAFO operations within the Buffalo River's watershed. If there is no way to stop these and other harmful practices, what was the point in creating the park?
