If no one else is going to Home Depot, I'll come to your house instead if that's okay. I'm going to PM you.
If anyone wants us to meet them at Home Depot...please post! Otherwise, we'll see everyone at the take out!

DeBo and I will be swinging through the Home Depot around noon. Several who went today are coming again tomorrow if they are successful in obtaining hall passes from both work and home.
If nobody's there, no prob, we'll see you at the take out!

I'm I interested if I can swing it at work. How long is the float and what is it like? Are you all floating on Saturday in case I can't make it today?

I think it is 5.2 miles.
They don't release on Saturday, so this one has to be done on weekedays.
If you need to leave late from work but are not carpooling, then you can just get to the put-in by 3 PM. It is a very short shuttle on paved roads, it will be easy for us to get you back to your truck.

You guys are really making me jealous as I sit here contemplating another day at work.

However, you've also got me wondering about this run. Sounds like it's fun and bit of a challenge, not too much but enough to help me step up my game a little. Is it suitable for a sixteen foot tandem paddled solo?

Oh yes - that would be fine. The "hardest" part of the run is probably just catching the eddy at the take out (the still water is way next to the bank, and a lot of folks think they are in the eddy and stop paddling). But we usually send some folks to catch it and get out to help pull the others in if anyone has any trouble. And it's not the end of the world if you do miss it...no 50' waterfall downstream....just means you might have to weed-whack your way back up the bank from the other side of the bridge. At that point the danger is ticks and chiggers!
It's too bad there are no weekend releases, but during this dry spell, it is worth taking an afternoon off work to splash in that cool water! Definitely find a way to hit it while it lasts!

Great. I'll make it a point to get in on the next one I can. How'd the gunwales come out?

They came out fine, but funny you should ask, because I ended up with some trouble with the carry thwarts coming undone. So I"m actually taking full use of my day off work to head to Jim Kreuger's place later this morning and he's going to help me get a new one installed...I did a LOT of work re-outfitting that canoe, but decided replacing a thwart reached the limits of my comfort (and maybe more importantly, the limits of my tool set)! I really appreciate Jim's willingness to help me out, and I suspect I'll learn a thing or two while I'm over there. Sweet deal!

Mr. Jim is a true gentleman and the first club member I met in person. Give him my regards.

Timothy and I will be leaving Hot Springs at 1:00. We can carry two people and two kayaks if anyone needs to carpool from Hot Springs.

Woo hoo! Thanks Mitch for finding my lost paddle today! Weird that it was just floating on an eddy like that.
19+ people floating together today, said Aly... Great group from the sound of it.
