I can bring my 2-burner stove and maybe we can set some of this up. Also, if I had a portable (counter-top) microwave, I would bring it, but ours is built in to the cabinets. How much effort would it be to get a couple folks to bring microwaves?

The store has one and we'll bring it...it is a small one, but that's 1 microwave for the cause.

Makes no difference to me as I was planning on bringing my own grub and means of preparing it anyway, but what would be the chances of having the kitchen not staffed but open for warming food, washing pots, that sort of thing?

Those are just the rules at Camp Couchdale...I'm sure it has something to do with their insurance requirements, etc...but because the kitchen isn't staffed, it will not be open at all.

That entire building, for that matter will not be open. The silent auction and potluck, will be put on where the video showings normally are done. This is also where the Ark-La-Tex will set-up for Friday night.

This is actually very convenient as, the D.O. cook-off, beer garden, rescue rodeo, and all other events take place at the "club-house/bull-ring" area right by that, so the event will seem more intimate.

Is there still going to be a silent auction?? Can't wait! I'm ready for the weekend.

Thanks, Jack H

I found out this evening as I was leaving the shop that I'll get the WHOLE WEEKEND OFF!!!! I had thought That I'd still need to work saturday morning, but the river gods have cashed in some of the good river karma I've earned during all those impromptu floats that became one or two-man clean-ups (thanks in large part to Cowper, who I've never seen on a creek or swamp without spare trash bags {unless he was in a little creek boat}). Talked to Tim Eubanks earlier, and will be volunteering for the beer garden as well as whatever else comes along. Now I've just gotta work on my contributions to the silent auction.
SEE YA THERE!

Another idea that may work well for the pot-luck is doing your dish in a crock-pot. You can bring all the ingredients with you, put them on in the morning...go have a great time at any number of the events, then come 6:00....bam....dinner is served...minimal refrigeration required and very little work. As Ron Popeel said, "Just set it, and forget it."

ARK-LA-TEX Bayou Buffet
Head chef Jennie is currently preparing a simmering batch of Red Beans and Rice with andouille sausage and Cajun seasonings. Toss on some corn on the cob with french bread. Tea and lemonade for drinks. There will also be additional Louisiana Hot sauce, Tony Chachere's seasonings and Tabasco for those who like it hot! We will also have a smaller batch of vegetarian only so no one is left out.
Join the Bayou Chapter for the feast!

Jeremy,

I'm looking forward to making a DO full of my Aunt's Baked Beans  tomorrow for the evening meal on Saturday. With the kitchen situation as it is, I'll plan to bring one of my gas grills that more operates like an oven. I'll be glad to warm another comparable-sized dish along with mine, or as many smaller ones as possible as space and time permits. I'll also bring a couple of 4X8 folding tables if needed for serving.

Two Questions; Is the basement of the dining hall (the bathrooms&showers) going to be open despite the upper portion being closed? If not, where will the facilities be that we'll have available for such things?
Is the club going to provide paper plates, napkins, and eating utinsels for the pot-luck meal?

Best Regards
Jim
