We have the bug too. Starting with a rec boat both of us weren't happy with we purchased new. Sold them, then bought two new rec boats. From there 2 Bell canoes of which one was sold due to my poor inability to stay upright in the canoe esp. on bayou trips. Then I have purchased and sold 2 whitewater kayaks til I got the one I am very satisfied with. Also bought old rpm to practice my rolls in (now can roll my new Hero) so will hang on to the rpm for now, maybe sell it later. Now Gary is going to buy a new canoe again and probably keep his bell yellowstone. So counting right now we have 5 boats in our garage with the 6th one on the way. I still have room for my van along with all the boats, gear, plumbing equipment of Gary's. Anymore boats, will have to put the van outside but I am not going to do that.

My wife and I had a similar conversation about me not needing another kayak, but it was a lot shorter. She said "No", I now have a new XP9. I believe my wife thinks I have the bug, but I am afraid it could be terminal. :poke:

Actually, it is good. You'll live longer and feel younger.

Y'all are all lucky. Anytime I go to buy something for paddling I have to buy 3. You wanna make OOO's day; go in and buy 3 brand new boats and some accesories. I think our first purchase a few years back earned us preferred customer status. We currently have 5 boats as I sold my big green SOT earlier this year. I think it will be replaced by an open cockpit tandem/solo kayak or a canoe for overnighters on the Buffalo. Oh no, it's (kayakaholism) flared up again!

Everyone who used my SOT hated it. We now use it for target practice. It is hanging over my driveway between two big pine trees. It's one boat I won't be replacing by going to OOO. I've thought of putting duct tape over the holes and using it for a "beer barge" if I ever go sandbar camping.

Unfortunately you just haven't tried the right SOT yet!! :poke: Maybe you'll have another one in you fleet yet. They're great for temporarily soothing boat fever. I target mine at eddies, waves, surf holes, etc. And I'll soon have another one, some kind of faster cruiser to go with my Torrent whitewater SOT, maybe an RTM Disco or a Cobra Re-Vision or Expedition. My "fever" is raging and I need a fix for my addiction. 3 canoes and 1 SOT is not enough. THERE'S NEVER ENOUGH!! But a beer barge, that's cool!

How did your Ouachita float go Saturday and did Hunter get to paddle?

That's right. You rarely see any canoe(ers)(ist)? or kayakers acting their age. We could probably make a case study out of Cowper :poke:

Louis,
You're right about it not being the boat for me--it's a boat I gave $100 for because a friend needed money, and hey, it floats. You seem to have a perfect fit in yours. I may have to try out a nice SOT. What kind is yours?

Hunters 17th birthday was Wednesday. Saturday he was on Little Red with his dad, fly fishing. I told him Hannah was going Saturday, but he was already at Heber Springs.

I think there was 14 of us for the Rockport run Saturday. We had a good time. I took 2 of those water cannons for Gary & the other kids to play with.

Started with the old Mohawk bought used from Gordon's in Jasper. Borrowed my first solo canoe, bought a used one within a year. Bought another one 6 months later. Got my son a kayak when he was 9. Bought a neighbors 17' Blue Hole cause it was there and unused.
Bought a used raft. keeping a raft for a guy who went to Iraq to work. Bought a kayak so I could go with my son and learn together.
Helped son buy second kayak, acquired an old school kayak for daughter to learn in. keeping a sit on top in storage, too.
5 kayaks, 4 canoes, 1 raft: No room in the inn. All purchased used (sorry OOO).
I'm aflicted.
Yall come to the Central Chapter meeting tonite and we can have some group therapy.

The lesson I'm learning from this thread is to stay single, never have progeny, and have lots of extra room where I live to keep all the boats I'll doubtless be acquiring.
