:) :D :o !!!

Cool Beans! Sounds good, I think Casey (the dog... other wise known as Misto Pie or Sir Poopsalot) Will be there on a leash at all times with his pickup bags!

And Jim I have done the float tip on the river and carrie and I loved it... well carrie was not to thrilled with the ledge at the end... but she made it!

So sign us up for that! and for the people that know Casey... Everyone will have a good time around him! (he visits OOO all the time!)

That sounds just fine. I know you all will have a good time! it's usually pretty easy to economize on the afternoon shuttle. At any rate, It's always just the best day!!
We'll see you, Carrie, and Der Hunde there :)

Best Regards

You want the dogs to be well behaved and leashed? What about some of the humans that will attend!

I'm not bringing a dog, but I can bring a couple of leashes. Do ya think we will need a shock collar?? . . . I've heard some pretty wild stories!

This event sounds like a blast! What time does this gathering usually start? Also, I can find my way to "the ledge", but how do you enter on "the Porterfield side"? Wayne is thinking about coming along as well, but he doesn't choose to paddle. Are there usually some people who just hang around and NOT float?
Thanks,
Sandy

Sandy,
As I'm not very adept at direction giving, I'll let those more savvy answer the directions part. I will say, that even if you're not boating, there will be a lot of fun to be had just hanging out and watching. That, I can guarantee as I have a little bit of something up my sleeve!!!! :chicken: :hammer:

Okay, everyone....(mainly central chapter, as this is YOUR event) This is Surf & Turf Week!

So, far we've had some people volunteer for side items and that's awesome! We'll probably need some tables too. If any of you "oar daddies" have some to put on loan, that would be awesome!

The grill, charcoal, and food is all taken care of...as well as the port-a-potties for Porterfield's. Chris Martin and Steve Gabbard will be your chefs for the afternoon, and we'll be there to set-up around 9:00 a.m., so that's when the gate will be opened.

I would assume that the impromptu down river float will leave sometime around 10:00 a.m., as that is when the water will be turned on from Remmel. I'll let whoever is organizing that, post behind me more information.

Bottom line here is that if you've not ever come out to a Surf & Turf...you have been missing out...but its not too late for you. You can come to this one! Hope to see you all out!!!

Here are directions to Porterfield's from last years forum post:
Porterfields is directly accross the river from the boat ramp area and park. There is plenty of parking at Porterfields. You can ferry back and forth between the park area and Porterfields. To drive directly to Porterfields from Little Rock, take Exit 97 off of I-30, immediately after you cross the river at Malvern (the "main" Malvern exit is 98, to get to Porterfields, go past the main exit to Exit 97). After talking Exit 97, turn right (north) onto 84, very briefly, then right onto 171 (84 Ts into 171 immediately after the exit), go about 1/4 mile and the double gate to Porterfields will be on your right.
The road is very clear on Google Map or Google Earth.

One of the last times the ramp of death was at surf and turf - it's been quite a while.......First one is a surf and turf back in 2007

2nd video is Memorial Day 2008 (I think):

I've been attending the Surf&Turf for many years and just want to put in my 2cents-worth about what a fun day it always has been! There are folks who arrive early and organize shuttles among themselves for a morning float, folks who arrive a little later, have lunch, then organize a shuttle and float, and folks who prefer to surf and play the Ledge later on rather than make the down-river float. Regardless, my favorite parts are hanging-out visiting with everyone in the relative cool of the morning, the nice lunch!, and an afternoon float.
My suggestion for those desiring a morning float would be to arrive at Porterfield's soon after the cooks arrive at 9am, to find others wanting to head up to the dam to float. Those wanting to make the float after lunch have usually visited around Porterfield's during the morning and found others who will be heading up fairly shortly after lunch, usually 1 or 1:30pm. In either case just look for the most' down-river-looking boats' and folks busy consolidating them :)
Marlo and I hope to join you all on Saturday but have been somewhat under the weather as of late but will hope to see you for the nice lunch, float and great day always!

Best Regards
Jim Moose
