Here is a review on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1.
It is a couple of years old or so, and I don't know at this time what may or may not have replaced it in the Panasonic line, but its a great waterproof. The review includes a couple of sample photos.

Re: Recommendations on waterproof cameras
I have a Canon Powershot D-10 ... it takes good pictures both on and off the water ... haven't used the video much but what James took out on the Gauley was good. I bought it based on recommendations from paddlers from Boatertalk and also from the results of this comprehensive reveiw of most of the waterproofs in the market about a year ago. It was top rated along with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 ... but the Panasonic did not get a good rating for waterproofness

I've enjoyed the Pentax Optio model 30 I think. Waterproof and compact.
Here's an example of its work that has both still shots and video suitable for YouTube or Facebook.

Thanks for all of your recommendations.
I went with a Olympus Tough 6020 because it sounded pretty sturdy and waterproof. Plus, the non-waterproof camera I have now is an Olympus. Even I can take great shots without much difficulty.
Can't wait to get great rivershots w/o worrying about dropping my camera in the water.

Presently own a Pentax Option W30, and very pleased with it. My first Optio W10 is still being used by my daughter, I think. No trouble with either of them after being dropped, sitting on my helmet in the pool, ice, snow, and heat of the summer taking a cool baths in the Spring River. The new ones are HD capable, wireless transfer, even more megapixels, and I'll be moving on to one of those next.
