Bump! Cleaning out the wood from Osage is like a Christmas Gift that keeps on giving to all kayakers. We are still on for the 12th if you want to come out and unwrap the biggest gift of them all!!This is a chance of a life time.

Sorry guys, probably won't make it. The weather is going to be brutal.
You better mix a little kerosene with your bar oil.

oh come on Don, the sun will be shining, the wind wont be bad in the Gorge, and it should be a perfect day to work up a sweat. Is there any way to bribe you guys? It's just another day on the mountain.

Wish I could make it - was going to push to do it (4 hour drive for me from KC), but we're starting to ice up here and the next 24 hrs is supposed to get worse. -15 wind chill forecast here tonight with precipitation...
If you guys get out there, watch for icy rocks and chainsaws. We almost lost 'ol John "Stumpy" Peeps like that...

It was a good day. Not that cold once we got down in the creek and out of the wind. I think we got a lot accomplished, but we'll have to see what Mother Nature can do for us with a flood to clean out our cut-up logs. If we're not good-to-go after a high-water event, we're at least very close.
Thanks,
Shep

Sheps right, we're getting close to having the 1st mile to the mushroom in really good shape. We took out a major logjam that had been building for a long time and alot of other icefall. I will go on a scout hike downstream to determine what to do next. Thanks for coming out guys, after the ice storm I did'nt know if the gorge would ever be good to go again.

Thanks for getting out there and working on it. I'll have to make it down there to help out early next year. I'd bet there's still quite a bit more to do. The worst trap for wood is probably Switchback. The undercuts there trap just about anything that floats in without a good plan...

It was a good day Sunday Fell down 4X's once in the water. I got to see the three mushroom shape rock formations that was very cool. Sorry Roger while cutting wood I cut a rock and dulled your blade. I can say 1/4 mile past the mushroom it looked clean out might have a down tree. I can say the hike out was very very tough. I think we had a good time out there.

No, we started from Roger's place a few hundred yards upstream from the Magic Mushroom. Upstream from there, there was an old (older than the ice storm) tree dam that pushed you river left into a big undercut rock. We took the top off of that then worked our way downstream. I'm guessing you guys stopped just above the tree dam, because looking upstream from there, it looked pretty good. We took out a few strainers in the entrance rapid to the Magic Mushroom.
